TORSION OF THE TESTICLE

Very sudden, severe pain in the scrotum may be the result of a rotation of the testicle, which restricts the supplying blood vessels. This usually occurs in adolescents and young adults. An urgent urological check including ultrasound of the testicle is indicated. If the suspicion of a rotation is confirmed, an urgent procedure will be performed in which we will check the status of the testicle by means of a scrotum cut. If a rotation is detected during the procedure, it will be sewn back into the scrotum in good position. In rare cases, the rotation has taken too long and the testicle has already died off during surgery exploration. In this case, the urologist is forced to remove the dead testicle.
