ERECTION PROBLEMS

Men with erection problems, also called erectile dysfunction or impotence, have trouble getting or keeping an erection. Erection problems can already occur at a relatively young age, but the frequency increases with increasing age. Risk factors for developing erectile dysfunction are similar to risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease: obesity, diabetes, little exercise and smoking. The main preventive measures therefore lie in maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle with a varied diet. In addition, hormonal and psychological problems can also be the cause of erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction treatment will usually start with medication (type viagra). If the medication is not effective enough, syringes (intracavernous injections) can also be used. We teach the patient to inject a product into the penis with a small needle, whereby an erection is obtained in an artificial way. If this is still not enough, a penile prosthesis can be placed if desired.
