Laser surgery is a treatment in which the operation is being done with laser technology.

Laser surgery has been increasingly used over the last 10 years because it eases delicate or complex operations. By using a laser, bleeding, scarring and many other complications can be avoided during the operation.

During a HOLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) the benign, obstructive tissue of the prostate is being resected through the urethra.

The urology department of the OLV Hospital Aalst did pioneering work by implementing this technique as first in the Benelux and is nationally and internationally recognized as training center for this technique.
