EPIDIDYMITIS

Epididimytis can occur at all ages and is usually manifested by fairly sudden pain on the back of the testicle. Sometimes this is accompanied by a fever. In case of sudden testicular pain, an urgent urological check-up should always be performed to exclude a rotation of the testicle. An epididymitis can be accompanied by inflammation of the bladder and prostate. A urine sample will be analyzed. If we suspect that it is a bacterial epididymitis, antibiotics will be started. If there has been risky sexual contact in the past few days, an STD test (via the urine) should also be performed. For the pain we treat with anti-inflammatories, ice application and high stand.
